Life on Earth becomes dangerous for everyone associated with the International Space Exploration Group and Arroyo Aerospace. Josh, Adrienne, Tamara, Arno, and the Arroyo corporate family must consider where to be in the future.
It is 2037. Climate change on Earth is decimating portions of every continent. Human civilizations continue to fight for dominance of the planet. Europe is once again at war. Nuclear bombs have exploded in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. North and South American countries signed treaties and trade agreements with China to maintain peace between them.
The International Earth Terminal Station completes additional tiers. It is established as an international city. Certain countries on Earth threaten to invade the station or direct missiles there if they are not permitted to have a base on the terminal. A war between Earth and the space colonies seems likely.
Mars City and other Martian settlements have grown. They form a Martian planetary settlement alliance and pledge to work together despite tensions and earthly connections. They resist control by Earth. Mars has become the center for solar system exploration, asteroid belt mining, and travel to other planets. Arroyo Aerospace constructs and tests light-speed star drive at L5. The Space Exploration Group ships travel throughout the solar system. The Arroyo gravity drive remains secret.
Unexpected visitors arrive at L5.
