The Starship “Velo” moves in space as quickly as light from a solar object moves across the universe.

They travel from Milonia, one planet in a vast constellation of Milky way stars known in another part of the galaxy as Argo because the shape of an ancient Greek sailing ship could be imagined from its bright stars. Milonia’s star is at the top of the ship’s main mast. The star has twelve planets. Only one world, Milonia, sustains life. The other planets are uninhabitable. Five are too close to the giant star. Six are big rocks or frozen gas. Humanoid-type life evolves on Milonia, a watery world with one large continent. On Milonia and in the universe, water, H2O, is the key to life emerging on a planet.

I am the Commander of the Velo. This is my journal. Our humanoid-type species evolved from the vast oceans onto the land. Over time, we inhabited a mountainous continent that spreads from the North to the South, covering about a third of the planet. The rest of the world is water—the oceans team with abundant life. The environment forced our ancestors to move onto the land. Our species has evolved on the mountainous terrain of the continent for millions of years.

The Milonians aboard the Starship Velo sleep while their ship, like a beam of light, moves toward a planet in a distant solar system. A world our astronomers calculate has an abundance of water and a breathable atmosphere.
